Penn GSE Peer Tutoring Program
The University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) and Thinkist, PBC have partnered to bring Thinkist’s math tutoring program to school districts serving rural students.
- Penn GSE and Thinkist will provide an evidence-based peer tutoring program that will train rural high school students in grades 10 - 12 to become peer tutors to students (tutees) in grades 6-11, raising student achievement and increasing the rates of college application, enrollment, matriculation, and success for rural Pennsylvania students.
- Successful completion of the tutor training qualifies tutors for up to 8 undergraduate credits and a peer tutoring certificate from the University of Pennsylvania.
- Additionally, this project will create and disseminate resources aimed at supporting college success and readiness, which will be available to all students in participating districts.
- Through this accessible, high-quality, and scalable peer tutoring program, students will receive both academic and social-emotional support, which aims to improve their preparedness for postsecondary education as well as overall rates of college enrollment, success, and degree completion.
