Peer Tutoring Program

The University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) and Thinkist, PBC have partnered to bring Thinkist’s math tutoring program to school districts serving rural students.

• Penn GSE and Thinkist will provide an evidence-based peer tutoring program that will train rural high school students in grades 10 - 12 to become peer tutors to students (tutees) in grades 6-11, raising student achievement and increasing the rates of college application, enrollment, matriculation, and success for rural Pennsylvania students.
• Successful completion of the tutor training qualifies tutors for up to 8 undergraduate credits and a peer tutoring certificate from the University of Pennsylvania.
• Additionally, this project will create and disseminate resources aimed at supporting college success and readiness, which will be available to all students in participating districts.
• Through this accessible, high-quality, and scalable peer tutoring program, students will receive both academic and social-emotional support, which aims to improve their preparedness for postsecondary education as well as overall rates of college enrollment, success, and degree completion.
